three sources and three components

The application makes it easy (in minutes if your files are ready) to create and publish a book with parallel texts. The only requirement for the text of the author and the translation is that they must have an equal number of paragraphs.

Three ways to create a book:

simplest - put the texts in any spreadsheet editor, such as MS Excel. In the first line, in the corresponding columns should be the names of the author and translators. Save the file and import it to Diglossa.

standard for a new text - create a directory tree with the texts of the author and its translations. Texts will be grouped by title (for example, different chapters or parts). The extension of a file is called nicname. For example, in the file noname.translator the nickname is “translator”. See examples in the Examples section.

Recommended for texts already existing in the repository - clone the source files of the book from the repository - (default, but could be any by your choice), make corrections and improvements, add a new translation, comments, pagination, etc. and post your changes. Familiarity with the principles of working with git and is not required.

manifest file

a simple .json file, with any name, containing meta-information about the book and a list of resources. Resource - the path to the text stored in the version control system and an indication of how it is processed. Path to the resource could be a directory, or a common repository, or a repository for each text. It is also useful to add the full names of the translators (otherwise the program will have to work with their nicknames), indicate the source data of the texts, useful meta-information, etc. Easiest way to learn the features of the manifest file are to look them from the available examples. They will change in the next versions.
